NAPS CALL FOR CALM AND RESPONSIBLE CONDUCT FOLLOWING ADAMAWA STATE POLYTECHNIC PROTEST
The leadership of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has been closely following the developments at Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola, following the recent student protest over the prolonged lack of electricity and water on campus.
As a responsible student body, we acknowledge and respect the right of students to peaceful protest, particularly when it concerns issues that directly affect their academic environment and well-being. The courage and conviction shown by the students in standing up for their basic needs is noted and deeply understood.
However, we are also concerned about reports of property damage during the course of the protest. While we stand in solidarity with the students in demanding better living and learning conditions, we must emphasize that our actions must always reflect maturity, responsibility, and peaceful engagement.
We therefore call on all students of Adamawa State Polytechnic to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperative with both the school management and relevant authorities during this period. Let us channel our collective energy toward constructive dialogue and peaceful resolution.
Furthermore, we appeal to students who may have participated in the protest to take responsibility for any damages caused and, where possible, contribute to the repair and restoration of affected facilities. Let us demonstrate that our struggle is rooted in integrity and accountability.
The leadership of NAPS is engaging with relevant authorities, and we are committed to ensuring that long-term solutions are put in place to address the infrastructural challenges on campus.
Let us remember: our voice is stronger when we remain united, peaceful, and purposeful.
Signed:
Comr. Aliyu Omotayo Yusuf
Vice President, National Affairs
National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS)
