Polytechnic Students : NAPS disassociates from impersonators from false publication against Comr. S A Lukman - President of NAPS

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF POLYTECHNIC STUDENTS (NAPS)

Office of the president

Press Statement

FALSEHOOD  AS OPEN LETTER: A RESPONSE TO THE BASELESS ATTACK AGAINST COMRADE SALAHUDEEN LUKMAN BY AN IMPOSTORS

Our attention has been drawn to a highly misleading and malicious statement released by an individual parading himself as the National Public Relations Officer of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), attempting to defame and distort the legacy of a respected comrade, Hon. Comrade Salahudeen Lukman—a seasoned student leader, advocate for youth development, and symbol of integrity in the Nigerian student movement.

This so-called “open letter” is not only misleading but also an unfortunate desperate smear campaign orchestrated by a factional and illegitimate group seeking cheap relevance through character assassination. Let it be made clear to the public and the leadership of Kwara State that this document holds no constitutional authority or recognition under the legitimate NAPS leadership.

Setting the Records Straight:

1. Comrade Salahudeen Lukman is a Veteran of the Student Movement and a Man of Proven Integrity.

Comr. Lukman is one of the few student leaders whose track record is steeped in selfless service, having served not only as a Senate President of NAPS but as a key unifier and voice of direction during some of the most turbulent times in the association’s history. His contributions to peacebuilding, policy advocacy, and student empowerment are well documented across the federation.

2. His Influence and Relevance are Built on Grassroots Support and Respect, Not Propaganda.

Comrade Lukman does not need to inflate his profile with imaginary titles or self-acclaimed designations. His influence is earned, not manufactured. The respect he commands across campuses in Nigeria and among youth stakeholders is a result of his years of active engagement, sacrifices, and visionary leadership.

3. Attacking His Aspirations is an Attack on Progressive Student Participation in Governance.

The laughable attempt to shame him for participating in democratic politics in Offa Local Government only exposes the writer’s ignorance of democratic values. Contesting for office—whether won or lost—is not a sign of failure but of courage and civic responsibility. Unlike many who hide behind keyboards, Comrade Lukman put himself forward to serve.

4. NAPS is Not a Tool for Political Witch-Hunting.

The name of NAPS must not be used as a weapon for personal vendetta or factional propaganda. The role of the association is to unite, uplift, and advocate for Nigerian Polytechnic students, not to drag respected comrades into the mud over personal grievances or factional jealousy.

5. Falsehood Does Not Change Facts.

No matter how many times lies are repeated, they can never override the truth. Comrade Lukman remains a beacon of hope, a mentor to younger comrades, and a strong believer in purposeful leadership. Those trying to erase his legacy are merely rewriting their own irrelevance into the footnotes of history.

Our Stand:

 • We dissociate the name of NAPS from the false publication made by the impersonator(s).

 • We reaffirm our respect and commendation to Comrade Salahudeen Lukman for his years of dedication to student activism, youth empowerment, and nation-building.

Conclusion:

The National Association of Polytechnic Students remains committed to promoting unity, progress, and responsible leadership across all campuses. We will not fold our arms while a few misguided individuals try to weaponize our name for bitterness and envy.

Let it be known: Great minds do not throw stones—they build bridges. Comrade Salahudeen Lukman has built too many bridges for us to be silent while petty hands try to destroy them.
