Tribunal to Deliver Judgment on Offa LG Election Dispute March 27
Ilorin, Kwara State – The Local Government Election Tribunal in Ilorin has scheduled Thursday, March 27, 2025, to deliver judgment on the disputed Offa Local Government election of September 21, 2024.
The case was filed by Comrade Salahudeen A. Lukman, popularly known as Eluku Omo Adugbo, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the election. Lukman is challenging the declaration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Alhaji Suleiman Omituntun, as the winner of an election that he claims never took place.
The legal battle also seeks to overturn the alleged unlawful declaration of twelve ward councilors by the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC).
Lukman has emphasized that his pursuit of justice is driven by the need to uphold democracy and the integrity of the people of Offa, known for their resistance to injustice and oppression. He stated that taking legal action was a way to encourage his supporters to remain peaceful and law-abiding, rather than resorting to violence in response to what he describes as an electoral “daylight robbery.”

Despite concerns that political influence could sway the judiciary, Lukman has expressed confidence in the tribunal’s independence. He remains hopeful that the judges will deliver a verdict that reflects the rule of law and the true events of the election.
As the tribunal prepares to rule on the case, residents of Offa and political observers across the state are eagerly awaiting the outcome, which could have significant implications for local governance and electoral integrity in Kwara State.
