Kwara SA Media Lies and Attack on Hon. Comr. Salahudeen Adéyemí Lukman

Kwara State Government’s Attack on Hon. Comr. Salahudeen A. Lukman: Setting the Record Straight

By Ahmed Yunus, Special Assistant on Media & Publicity to Hon. S. A. Lukman (Eluku Omo Adugbo)

In what appears to be a calculated attempt to malign the character of Hon. Comr. Salahudeen A. Lukman (popularly known as Eluku Omo Adugbo and Aluta Inspector General), the Kwara State Government has engaged in a smear campaign against one of Nigeria’s most respected activists and political figures. This baseless attack, spearheaded by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on New Media, seeks to distort the legacy of a man whose contributions to student activism and national development are well-documented.

A Legacy of Activism and Leadership

Hon. Comr. Salahudeen A. Lukman has been at the forefront of student activism and political engagement for decades. Unlike certain political jobbers in the Kwara Government House, his credibility and influence extend beyond local politics. His long-standing leadership in student and youth organizations include:

Assistant Secretary, Association of Mineral Resource Engineering Students (AMRES), Kwara Poly Chapter

Sports Director, Student Union Government, Kwara Poly

Financial Secretary, NMGS/NAPE, Kadpoly Chapter

National Vice President (External Affairs), National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS)

Senate President, National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS)

National President, National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS)

Regional President, West African Polytechnic Students Union (WAPSU)

Regional Speaker, ECOWAS Youth Parliament (now West Africa Youth Parliament)

National President, National Union of Nigerian Students (NUNS)

President, PDP National Youth Movement

His qualifications, both academic and professional, are undeniable:

ND in Mineral Resource Engineering

HND in Mining Engineering

B.Tech in Mining Engineering

PGD in Environmental Engineering

Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering

MBA in Oil, Gas, and Energy Management (in progress)

Beyond academics, he is a registered member of COREN, COMEG, NMGS, NSME, and CIPSM, making him a distinguished figure in engineering and youth consultancy.

Championing National Struggles

Eluku’s activism has resulted in numerous victories for Nigerian students and citizens, including:

Stopping the reintroduction of JAMB scratch cards for result checking

Advocating for the removal of the HND-BSc dichotomy in the public service

Leading protests against the hike in ATM transaction charges

Reinstating student union leaders wrongfully dismissed

Participating in national movements like the Save Nigeria protest and the passage of the Not Too Young to Run bill

Engaging the Federal Government to implement agreements with the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP)

A History of Political Engagement

Eluku has been in active opposition since 2011 when he joined party politics. He was a key figure in the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), supporting Nuhu Ribadu’s presidential campaign. In 2014, he realigned his political stance and joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), where he has continued to challenge ineffective governance

Beyond Kwara Politics

His expertise extends beyond activism; he is a professional Mining Engineer and a respected youth consultant. His reach spans political affiliations, having engaged with figures such as:

Barr. Seyi Tinubu through the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS)

The Minister of Youth through civil society and youth engagement

Senior Special Assistants to the President on student engagement

Addressing the ‘Baby Comrades’ in Kwara Government

It is necessary to educate the young and inexperienced so-called comrades in the Kwara Government House that attacking a seasoned activist like Eluku is a fruitless endeavor. Their energies would be better spent urging their principal, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to secure meaningful federal appointments for the state instead of targeting a man whose influence is beyond their reach.

Furthermore, allegations surrounding the SSA New Media’s family origins have raised questions, which only he and the people of Aran Orin can clarify. While he distances himself from his roots for political survival, true leaders embrace their identities with integrity.

Conclusion

Eluku Omo Adugbo remains a formidable national figure in activism, politics, and professional excellence. Attempts by the Kwara State Government to diminish his legacy will only strengthen his resolve and the support he enjoys nationwide.

Hon. Salahudeen Adéyemí Lukman
