25 Years On: Offa Remembers Chief J.S. Olawoyin, A Beacon of Integrity and Justice
By Hon. Comr. Salahudeen A. Lukman (Eluku Omo Adugbo)
Today marks a solemn milestone in Offa's political history as we commemorate the 25th anniversary of the passing of Chief J.S. Olawoyin, the first Asiwaju of Offa. A quarter-century may have passed, but the legacy of Baba remains firmly embedded in the hearts of those who knew him and in the political fabric of Kwara State.
Chief J.S. Olawoyin was not just a leader; he was a symbol of integrity, an embodiment of courage, and an unwavering advocate for justice, fairness, and development for the common people. His work reshaped Offa’s political landscape and continues to serve as an inspiration to many.
As we remember him today, I offer my heartfelt congratulations to the entire Olawoyin family for their tireless efforts in preserving Baba’s legacy. In particular, Barrister Segun Olawoyin has demonstrated remarkable dedication in upholding the family’s commitment to service and excellence. Your strength and resolve make us proud, as you carry forward the torch of Baba’s vision.
Personally, Chief Olawoyin's political philosophy has been a guiding light in my own journey. His resolute belief in doing what is right, regardless of the challenges, is a principle I have embraced. Like Baba, I believe that standing firm for the good of our community will, one day, lead to the realization of our collective dreams.
As we mark 25 years since his passing, let us not only remember Chief J.S. Olawoyin but continue to draw inspiration from his life and ideals. Though he may no longer be with us, his spirit, vision, and principles remain as vital today as they were in his time.
May Baba’s soul continue to rest in perfect peace. Amen.
