The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), the representative body for all polytechnics and colleges awarding ND and HND across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones, has applauded the exceptional achievements of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) under the leadership of Comptroller General (CG) Adewale Adeniyi. In a statement released today, NAPS highlighted the remarkable progress and transformative changes that have taken place within the NCS over the past year.
Under CG Adeniyi’s stewardship, the NCS has undergone significant improvements in border control and anti-smuggling operations. This has led to a historic surge in revenue generation, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision of renewed hope for the nation.
“Adewale Adeniyi is a refined gentleman and a man of great competence, whose leadership has exceeded expectations despite initial doubts about his capacity,” said Comrade Ridwan Opeyemi Munirudeen, National President of NAPS. “His efforts have not only bolstered Nigeria’s revenue but have also set new standards in the customs service.”
Since assuming office, Adeniyi has introduced several technological innovations, automating valuation and cargo clearance processes to enhance efficiency. His administration has been a significant deterrent to smugglers, making it increasingly difficult for illegal activities to thrive.
Adeniyi’s commitment to transparency and prudent management has earned widespread commendation. His proactive and pragmatic approach has won him many supporters, and his name is poised to be etched in gold as one of the most innovative and effective Customs bosses in Nigeria’s history.
In addition to his operational successes, Adeniyi has prioritized staff welfare, relaunching the Customs Wives Association to support families of officers who have died in the line of duty. He has also championed gender equality within the service, empowering women to advance in their careers.
Understanding the importance of trade facilitation for economic prosperity, Adeniyi has maintained comprehensive data on Nigeria’s trade balance with partner countries. This strategic insight has given Nigeria a competitive edge in global markets. Notably, he signed a trade facilitation agreement with China to strengthen bilateral economic ties.
The leadership of NAPS has unanimously agreed to support CG Adewale Adeniyi, passing a vote of confidence in his ability to continue his exemplary work. They also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing a trustworthy and capable leader to head the NCS.
“NAPS stands firmly behind CG Adeniyi and commends his relentless dedication to advancing Nigeria’s customs service,” said Munirudeen. “We look forward to more milestones under his leadership.”
This endorsement by NAPS highlights the significant strides made by CG Adewale Adeniyi in transforming the Nigerian Customs Service and his unwavering commitment to national development.
