NAPS FACT FINDINGS ON FEDPOLEL EMANATED ISSUE BETWEEN SUG PRESIDENT AND A STAFF; OUR RESOLUTION.
You will recall some weeks back, where a case was reported to Annex Secretariat of NAPS. Not only that, some bloggers also helps in circulation of rumor that the management of above Institution are covering an allegation of sexual harassment and other sinister agenda against concern student.
After the series of dialogue with the said President of the union in that Institution, the Leadership of NAPS also held an emergency zoom meeting to tackle the situation and hold the fact. Nonetheless, in the meeting a committee was set up, and was chaired by the National Vice President to investigate the issues and comes out of the facts.
The committee swing into action, by written to the management of FEDPOLEL on courtesy visit, stated on the letter main reason for the visit ( To hear the management side of the story). The letter was approved, and the Leadership of NAPS expresses her displeasure over the crisis.
1. POINTS FROM MANAGEMENT SIDE
The Rector acknowledged the visit and addresses the Leadership of NAPS by firstly clarify some point;
(a) The said President was not initially expelled, but punished to have extra two semesters and not be retailed as the union President, not until the said President went ahead to mobilized some members of NANS JCC and some thugs in Ondo to cause havoc in the Institution Premises.
( b) That at the moment of their attacks, some lecturers were chased and harassed, while him (Rector) was held hostage in his office.
(C) That the incident happened, during the matriculation of new students, which that alone can give bad impression about the school to their newly admitted Students.
(D) The lady in question testify that, nothing like harassment between her and the staff of the Institution, that all what happened there looks like set up against the said staff.
(E) The Rector further, butterest his point by refers to Students hand book which governed every student, that no Students should fight or slap each other, if that of such happen, the penalty is one semester or two. But the President case was not even a student but a staff.
2. NAPS RESOLUTION;
The Leadership of NAPS firstly apologize to the Rector and the entire management for the havoc and act of tarnished the Institution image caused by the President, who happens to be one of our senators by the virtue of rank. "Yes, he's our senator we can denie that, but he really abuse the power of Office, by allowing the seat to intoxicated him"
Most, of all what we are hearing now was not said to us by the President, he only emphasize on his rusticated because he challenges a staff for harassing a lady. But during our investigation, we discovered that some of his point were not truth, and that's what brought up the issue of setting a committee on fact findings. The Leadership of NAPS hereby state categorically that;
(A) we are in support of management decision. This will serve as lesson for any other Executives or any Students who have such hidden agenda on any lecturer.
(B) That Polytechnics Students are always awarded with learning and character after completion of the study, and NAPS will be only proud of any of her member who maintain that, because our association didn't fight wrongly.
(C) That the Management should not because of that cancelled SUG in the institution, because we believe with democratic Students Union, that's when the Students will have their says.
(D) That NAPS will continue to Protect her members on genuine Struggle not the other way round.
(E) The Leadership of NAPS wishes the said President well in his future endeavors, while we charge the Acting President to maintain Peace with the management,and always consult our organization when the need arises.
