NANS Endorsement of Engr. Zubair Mustafa (ag Rector, fed Poly Auchi) an aberration of the highest order and shame on commercial comrades.
The leadership of Nigeria Polytechnic Students NAPS read with total dismay and disappointment, the show of shame displayed by some bought over comrades who are suppose to be seen agitating for quality leadership on campuses, the ill-fated endorsement of the acting Rector of one of our greatest institutions in Nigeria is not only baseless but funny, hence it is reasonable we ask those bought over comrades the modalities put in check to have arrived at the endorsement of an Engr. who is yet to obtain his doctorate degree heading a world class institution like Auchi Polytechnic.
The malicious gathering held in federal Polytechnic Auchi, well sponsored by the Acting Rector who coughed out some amount of money for the sell-out comrades to award him and as well endorse him for substantive Rectorship, he is not even fit to be in the capacity of an Acting Rector, these we see as another level of discrimination, if Professors can be ordinary Dean of Student Affairs in leading Universities then Federal Polytechnic Auchi deserves at least someone with a doctorate to head our institution, these has been part of the agitations of ASUP to FG.
It is a slap on our face for someone who knows nothing about Polytechnic education, a full fledged university student who is a VP of NANS, coming to endorse an ordinary COREN certified Engineer as a Rector, it is pertinent we ask him the qualification of his Vice Chancellor since he claimed to be a student of Ambrose Ali University.
What are the achievements of the acting Rector? The same man who disenfranchised Nigeria students at the recent SUG election in fedpoly Auchi, the ugly incident that almost led to unrest on campus, he decided to compensate the student's choice by installing him as the JCC Chairman with the help of the same commercial comrades from universities.
We hereby call on NBTE, Federal Ministry of Education, Governing Council of Fedpoly Auchi and the Presidency to rescue Nigeria Polytechnic sector from total collapse, the least qualification for Rectorship should be doctorate, not even someone who's new in doctorate, we have people with vast experience in administration.
The leadership of NAPS appreciate the FG for discouraging ethnicity in the appointment of Rectors, the same gesture should be accorded Federal Polytechnic Auchi.
Auchi is a world class Polytechnic with the likes of Kaduna Polytechnic, Yaba College of Technology, Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Federal Polytechnic Oko, Federal Polytechnic Bida, etc, they all have at least doctorate holders as Rector, good number of Polytechnics (both state and federal) have Professors as Rectors so Auchi's case shouldn't be an exception.
Finally, someone should advise Engr. Zubair Mustafa the Acting Rector of Federal Polytechnic Auchi to channel his money and that of our institution into something reasonable and profitable instead of building castles in the air.
We are aware the Rectorship screening is coming up soon, we urge FG to ensure total fairness and abide strictly by the requirements as enshrined in Nigeria Polytechnic act, we crave for a free, fair and credible process devoid of politics and bribery in order to give our institution a competent and well qualified Rector.
