WE HAVE DECIDED 

Being the Press Text Statement of the Students Union Government, Federal University Dutsin-ma Katsina State.

Fellow Colleagues & Gentlemen of the Press.

Federal University Dutsin-ma (FUDMA), located in Katsina State is one of the of the twelve universities approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2010 to ensure & enhance access to quality education in Nigeria.

FUDMA is the first among the newly Approved universities to matriculate students and Commence academic activities in July 14 ,2012 with a reasonable number of students cut across the Federation. 

Within three years of stable and consistent academic activities, the University graduated it  first set of students in July 2015 becoming the first among the newly Approved University to graduate her students. 

The University under the steering steward of Prof. James O.I. Ayatse recorded tremendous success in stabilizing & setting the University at the right path , with tremendous success in ICT & Students Academic Progress. 

Throughout the Pioneering Tenure of the Vice Chancellor, FUDMA became the most applied University due to consistent & focused leadership which have taken the University to stardom. FUDMA became home for all. 

In affirmation of the efforts of the University Management FUDMA in providing Quality Education our Citadel was ranked 22nd out of 156 tertiary institutions by 4icu (For International Colleges and Universities) and 14th out of 249 tertiary institutions in Nigeria by webometrics in February 2015.

In 2016 a new Vice Chancellor was appointed in person of Prof. Haruna Abdu Kaita by President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR to continue on the mandate of providing Quality Education for National Development.

On assumption of duties of Prof. Haruna Abdu Kaita the terrain of the University Development became minimal this is due to change in the leadership of the University Management. 

Our Stories on National dailes Immediately disappeared , the harmony enjoyed by all members of the University Community became sour.

In 2017 the University Vice Chancellor Prof. Haruna Abdu Kaita was suspended by the University Governing council, the suspension paved way for the assumption of Prof. Armayau Hamisu Bichi as the Acting Vice Chancellor, Bichi been the Deputy Vice Chancellor ( Academics ) & former Dean in the Faculty of Agriculture was able to continue on the landmark achievement of the Pioneer Vice Chancellor having been a member of the Senate since the University Creation. 

During the 18months Acting Tenure of Professor

Armayau Hamisu Bichi the University Continue to record tremendous success in the areas it is known for , Progress in ICT & Academic uplift of FUDMA Students.

Among the Efforts is the Successful Commencement of Democratic Union activities which gave the University staff an opportunity to channel their needs through their various Unions & Association, the University staff now have Academic Staff Union ASUU , Non Academic Staff Union NASU , National Association of Technologist NATE , The Students community where not left out as his tenure lift the ban on Students Union activities making the University Community to have equal Representation across all quarter.

Prof. Armayau Hamisu Bichi succeeded in getting a full accreditation of 23 undergraduates programmes from the initial three, establishment of postgraduate school, establishment of Hausa, Islamic, and Library studies departments and other 45 programmes. This is just a drop in an ocean.

To the Glory of Allah , FUDMA School of  Post-graduate Studies stands tall among it peers whereas it's Sister Universities are just Considering Commencement of Postgraduate Studies FUDMA is already in the third phase of its Post Graduates programmes this feet was achieved due to the resilience of Prof. Armayau.

Prof. Bichi Remarkable & Responsive leadership, 

Have repositioned the values of the University his achievements while in acting capacity is second to none first of all.

On 15th May, 2020, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria appointed Prof Armaya’u Hamisu Bichi as the Substantive Vice Chancellor of Federal University Dutsinma to serve for a single 5 year unrenewable tenure.

WE HAVE DECIDED ,

As Students Union Government with core mandates to protect & promote the heritage of the University we will not In any way toy or be party to toying with the leadership of the University as we are currently seeing. 

Our resolve as Students Of the University is Prof. Armayau Hamisu Bichi should be left to continue on his mandate on making FUDMA great again. 

Our Call to the President & Minister of Education is to assiduously call Prof. Haruna Abdu Kaita to withdraw all court cases which is currently an albatross on the Progress of the University. 

Students don't want a repeatation of inconsistent leadership , Prof. Armayau Hamisu Bichi should be left to focus on the Development of Federal University Dutsin-ma.
