NYAGGI Distributes Relief Materials

The collaboration of NYAGGI, RNV, YNAG and MVMF launch the OSUN BEATS COVID 19 Initiative to distribute palliatives to citizens in Osun State.

During the flag off at Osogbo, the Osun state capital on Saturday, Adv. Wale Popoola, the State Lead of Raising New Voices (RNV) stated that the initiative was aimed to help relieve the people of Osun State to a considerable level due to the lockdown that has been on for a couple of weeks.

Adv. Wale in his remarks said, "This was necessary having observed that most citizens were not able to embark on their economic activities in order to cater for their needs. The lockdown brought untold hardship and worsened the economic abilities of residents in Osun state. It was for these reasons that we embarked on the initiative to distribute palliatives to as many households as possible."

He explained that “It is as a result of these, that, the Nigeria Youth Advocacy for Good Governance Initiative (NYAGGI) under the leadership of Admb Shehu Ibrahim, Raising New Voices (RNV) under the leadership of Jude 'Feranmi (RNV), Ife Sarumi (MVMF) and Tunji Adeniran (YNAG) deem it necessary to give out some palliatives to youth-led households in Osun State to cushion the effects of the lockdown as a result of the COVID-19.

He said to ensure effective and equitable distribution of the items, the New Voice Fellows (NVCF) will be championing the distribution in the Local Government Areas.

However, due to the decision of the Federal Government of Nigeria to ease the lockdown and enable movement of citizens in the country, the collaborating organizations have decided to distribute face masks to the people of Osun State, the face masks would aid protection from the virus as citizens go about their activities.

NYAGGI State Lead added “Accordingly, the initiative seeks to give out food items and face masks to households in all the local government of the state.

“This gesture as I mentioned earlier, is in collaboration with the YNAG and MVMF, he noted.

He said to ensure effective and equitable distribution of the items, the Committees have been constituted in the six geopolitical zones.

Adv. Wale Popoola who also enjoined the youths to adhere strictly to every precautionary measure put in place by the Osun state governments, including the compulsory wearing of face masks, physical distancing and regular hand washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

In total compliance with NCDC directive, the said palliatives were taken to door steps of the households without breaching the rule of physical and social distancing.

One of our Fellows, Okebaatimo Olajumoke described the RNV gesture as a commendable one.

She said “this is highly commendable, we appreciate what NYAGGI, Raising New Voices is doing. To all those who partner with them to bring succor to people in this difficult time, may God bless you all”.

While reacting, Queen Aderemi Fisayo said “unlike the pallitives we heard on the television and radio, this one is real. I'm glad we've this initiative beyond looking up to the government. With this, many of Osun State youths will be able to feed for sometimes. May God bless wherever this is coming from”.
