National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS)
SEAL OF THE PRESIDENT.
20/05/20.
Press Statement.
NAPS DEMAND THE IMMEDIATE REPLACEMENT OF NCDC AND MINISTRY OF HUMANITARIAN AFFAIRS BOSSES.
The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) is an umbrella body for all institutions awarding ND/HND cut across the six geopolitical zones of the federation with the membership strength of over 21.8 million armless batallion students schooling both at home and in diaspora.
The leadership of NAPS at her last briefing held in Summit hotel, life camp Abuja demanded the immediate replacement of both the NCDC DG and the Minister of humanitarian affairs (Mrs Faruq Sadiya) for gross misconduct.
Following the recent outbreak of the pandemic (Covid -19) in Nigeria, it is crystal clear that the above mentioned agencies have decided to commercialise our invincible enemy even at the detriment of our struggling economy.
It is on record that the Minister of humanitarian affairs (Mrs Faruq Sadiya Umar ) initiated the idea of feeding pupils at home, not minding the lock down, no reasonable statistics was done, no competent data base to ascertain the number and address of these pupils, in a situation where there are no biometrics to confirm the authenticity of the acclaimed pupils to be fed, it can be deduced that the feeding scheme is aimed at looting our treasury, it became more questionable when she estimated the sum of #679m per day for this scheme while the country is on permanent lock down and our economy is at the verge of collapsing.
Mrs Faruk Sadiya Umar has identified herself as the enemy of Nigeria for misleading the Presidency all for selfish aggrandizement.
The leadership of NAPS being a critical stakeholder in the country hereby demand for the immediate replacement of Mrs Faruk Sadiya Umar, the angry Nigeria students will not hesitate to troop out in millions to throw her out of the office and completely seal the ministry, she has failed us.
In the same vein, we are requesting for her trial by EFCC, we demand for her account of stewardship, we demand for a total check and balance of all the resources channeled to the ministry of humanitarian affairs since she came on board, we demand for the records of payments of all the programs under the ministry of humanitarian affairs led by Mrs Faruk Sadiya Umar, including the N-power program.
The leadership of NAPS stands for sanity, equity, accountability and uprightness.
The call for the immediate replacement of the DG NCDC ( Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu) should as well be held as a matter of urgency, the leadership of NAPS lost confidence in the DG for inflating the figures of affected people, it is a National disaster for the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control who couldn't manage the pandemic well but would rather cook up numbers in order to instill fear into Nigerians, it is a National embarrassment for the NCDC to come out boldly to apologize for misleading the country, we must make changes before the world sees us as a failed country.
Competent hands must be in place to prevent further occurrence.
The leadership of NAPS won't hesitate to take to streets in serious protest should these people remain in office.
Enough of National Disgrace.
Enough of looting by Tricks.
Enough is Enough.
Signed,
Activist Sunday A. Asuku
