2019 IJAKADI FESTIVAL : OFFA AWARD ON GOV AA AND THE PLEADGED SCHOOL RENOVATION FOR OFFA LOCAL GOVERNMENT.
Impressively, one must appreciate the good omen of every individuals, groups and authorities who had made the 2019 Ijakadi Festival a colourful and successful event, an educative, historical and cultural annual celebration of Offa community proudly packaged by Offa Descendant Union National Leadership.
This year 8th edition was indeed more richer, bigger and better very inclusive and educative as all and sundry were carried along in the line up of activities, the youth, the aged, the scholars, the traditionalist and the men of God, ranging from prayer services; church and mosque, Sporting; football, Volleyball and Table Tennis, Environmental Conservation; Keep Offa Clean Campaign, Educative Debate, Colloquium and Intelligent and Facial Beauty Contest tag Arewa Beuty Pagent, Traditional Drumming and Dancing Contest, Moremi Stage Play among other culture and historical monumental visit/tour by Kids including Agric Expo.
This has greatly influenced the reunion of Offa descendants, migling of old and young and reawakening the spirit of illustration sons and dauthers of Offa Land to the needs of our community in term of infrastructure, industrial and social development for economic prosperity to ellivate the social economic activities of our dear community including job creation and employment for teeming graduates hence Offa Decendant Union under the leadership of Dr Ladipo deserves all the Accolades and commendation.
The visionary Royal father, the Palace and our reputable chiefs in council displayed a great sense of humor a traditional gimmicks tag appreciation by Honoring Excellency, Gov AbdulRahman Abdulrasak, the Executive Governor of Kwara state with an award 'Soludero Of Offa' during the grand finale of the 2019 Ijakadi Festival, coted to be in appreciation of Mr Governor trust in Offa people and determination to include Offa as beneficiary of his administration developmental strides.
It was stated that Mr Governor has appointed Offa indigenes into several positions including commissioner for Enterprise, Chairperson, Kwara State Board of Internal Revenue and GMD Kwara Harmony Holding Limited. This we must tell his excellency that we appreciate but not a compensation to have spur this honor. Our Royal father has only acted in line with the yoruba adege "Eni to ba dami siwaju loma tele tutu" he who pour could water ahead matches the cold ground hence Mr Governor must move to prove the title confer on him by Olofa of Offa .
We are yet to benefit this regime as those position are strategic position to further help Mr Governor and his administration to get more resources and more values. It obviously a continuation of exlpointing Offa people's managerial skills and proffessional diligence just like we had during the electioneering struggle of Otoge where our people zealously champion the mantra.
We are confident that our Decendant in those positions shall deliver as they are all up to the task mentally and professionally, the tasking position to generate revenues for the government to do more for the people of kwara state but we should be reasonably compensated as a 2nd most populated Local Government in kwara with meaningful projects and programme.
Many areas still need transformer, our pipe borne water is yet to run, our roads are diplorable, our schools also need urgent attention, Youth need jobs among other pressing need of our dear community
It could have sound more honorable and praise worthy that his excellency compel kwara Road Maintenance Agency to fix all pot hole in our community before this Ijakadi Festival as well sponsors the invitation of one super star in music industry like King Sunny Ade, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal Kwam 1, Otunba Wasiu Alabi Pasuma or King Saheed Osupa to display for Offa people at the grand finale of the Ijakadi Festival the same way the people of Ilorin emirate enjoyed Wizkid even though the star boy ended up chanting 'Saraki eleniyan' when Ramani Olori Ilu brought him to town on Christmas/yelutide celebration, it doesn't matter if it goes on Mr Governor personal pocket as usually claimed but let a significant contribution and presence of new admistration be felt at all time in our dear Local Government beyond doubt.
Offa could not get KWHA Speaker on the account Of Zoning and Majority Leader on no account but flimsy excuse despite having the only returning honorable from Offa, all positions in the cabinet that has to do with spending and implementation of project were skip off Offa people but only those with task of getting Goverment more revenues are places our people were engaged which we quite agree is more tasking and less pleasure all the same our Royal father and the Palace appreciated his Excellency for tasking our brains more to develop kwara state.
Offa won't only forgive Mr Governor if our brains generates more money and Offa community benefited less or none.
The pledge by Mr Governor to renovate Offa Grammar school which is a general project to be executed for all the Grammer Schools in 16 local Government Area of kwara State must be appreciated but his Excellency, Education Stakeholder and other political players in Offa must understand that the choice of OGS in Offa will not fulfil the intent of improving secondary education standard in Offa Local Government, OGS Offa is a prominent Grammer school that attract series of interventions yearly both from her Old Students Association, Central Banks of Nigeria and Clubs/Association from within and outside of Offa hence the choice of Offa Grammer sch for state Government Renovation Project is misplaced, it can best be described as repainting a building beside another burnt building hence the gladiators and key players should inform the state Government to consider other schools with more dilapidated structures instead of Offa Grammer school.
Its my prayer that the sweat of Offa people and good gesture of Olofa and Traditional Chief(s) in Council won't go in vein as they deserve more from this regime. The honor is pre benefit and not a post benefit or appreciation in real sense because Offa is yet to benefit the Otoge Government of plenty Promises.
